Sweet Restaurant (5/5)
Sweet is one of our all time favourites in Patong and this trip we dined here three times. One of the fabulous things about eating Thai style is that everything goes in the middle for all to share. Over the course of our visits the adults sampled spring rolls, garlic bread, chicken satay sticks, beef in chilli oil, chicken green curry, chicken red curry, chicken black pepper, shrimp in curry sauce and beef massaman, with the kids going for the staples of nuggets and toasted sandwiches most nights. Everything we ate was very close to perfection and I found it almost impossible to pick a favourite. The prices are very reasonable here with most dishes and cocktails approx 120 baht (AUD$5) each. Every time we visited the kids were offered free ice creams and chuppa chups which was a lovely touch. We even got a visit from the owner Mal on our first visit to make sure everything was OK. Sweet never disappoints.
Charm Thai (4/5)
Located poolside at the Holiday Inn,
Charm was a perfect choice for a light lunch when we couldn't bear to tear ourselves away from the pool. The Hubs and I ordered the special to share, two sliders, nuggets, chips and two soft drinks for 300 baht ($12) which was reasonable for a hotel restaurant. We gave the soft drinks to the girls and opted for a beer and a cocktail instead.

We really enjoyed our first trip to
2gether about 3 years ago when we stayed in Karon so even though we are in Patong this time and Karon is a Tuk Tuk ride away we made the effort. I ordered the tenderloin steak with bearnaise sauce and the rest of the adults went for rib eye steak with mushroom sauce, fried fish with dill mayonnaise and spaghetti carbonara. Steaks are not cheap in Thailand compared to other choices so expect to pay upwards of 600 baht (AUD$24) depending on the size but I was so glad we splurged as they were superb. Cooked to perfection with a perfect pink centre and amazing bearnaise I just about lapped it up. The mash was a hit with everyone, including one of the girls who kept sneaking some. The kids ordered a pizza to share and I thought it was a great touch that they split it and served it on two individual plates. Both the ladies sampled a melon mojito which tasted soooo much better than it looked. The girls were impressed with the presentation of their watermelon shakes and even more impressed with the free ice cream.
Crepes
I couldn't do a post on Thailand food without including at least one example of street food. Options abound but one of the most common are crepes. Starting at about 50 baht (AUD$2) these are cheap and delicious. Give one a go you won't be sorry. I had the simple sugar and lemon but the girls went for Nutulla and banana, with sprinkles of course!
